Caamp Concert

Went to see Caamp with Abby and it was incredible.

One line from their really popular song By and By goes “This past year I got so much older” and that really hit me tonight. Just feel like life is flying by right now.

The venue (Meadow Brook Amphitheater) was really cool too. Just all around a great experience.

Also we bought a poster that was specific to the venue/night so we’re excited to get that framed as art for our future house.

Woke up today in Des Moines, Iowa for the second leg in our trek home from Fort Collins.

Thankfully, the Lions game occupied a good chunk of the ride – after 12+ hours on the road we needed something.

Lions game itself was almost a disaster, started up 21-0 and then won on a failed 2pt conversion by the Saints in OT. Offense was super clunky, hopefully that gets figure out quick.

Needless to say, good to have Lions football back and great to start 1-0!

The drive home from Fort Collins

Started the drive early this morning. Once you get past the Denver metro there’s mostly nothing for about 6+ hours – Eastern Colorado and Western Kansas are pretty desolate.

We say a bunch of wild horses running through a meadow in eastern Colorado and that was pretty awesome. Also saw a Coyote running and was pretty amazed by how large they are.

Drove through Topeka because of missed turn and it was pretty cool to see the capital of Kansas.

Got all the way to Kansas City to have dinner with Abby’s friend from college but we got caught in a thunderstorm so that was pretty short-lived.

Got to our hotel in Des Moines around 10:30pm to wrap up around a 16 hour day on road.

Kicking off the NFL season in style on a Wednesday night!

Writing this at the start of the 4th and it has been an absolutely horrible game – Darnold got hurt on the first drive and neither team can move the ball at all.

A bit sad to watch this game by myself because everybody else went hiking (couldn’t go because I had to run for try training).

First weekend of college football almost started off with a ridiculous upset.

Just the most unbelievable game ending imaginable. They put 1 second back on the clock and then Michigan caught a Hail Mary to win.

Hitting the Brewery on a Saturday Night

Went to a new brewery last night called Stodgy in Fort Collins that was pretty sweet (maybe my favorite one we’ve been to while we’ve been here).

Got a couple Hazy IPAs which were pretty good. Then we went downtown and went to a cool bar that we went to a few weeks ago called Surfside that has great NY-style pizza and a good beer from Odell’s called Old Aggie

Overall was a great night

Happy 27th to Abigail

Happy 27th to Abby – love you and want to remember this moment. We ordered food and then got Dairy Queen.

We also got Hunny groomed today and she smells like apple blossoms (came with a sick bandana too).

Beautiful sunset in the mountains

Sunset

Just felt the need to share this sunset in Fort Collins tonight. Is the day before Abby’s 27th birthday so I thought it was perfectly timed

Dinner & a concert in the foothills

Went to a place called Mishawaka tonight for a great burger and a concert. It was a n incredible venue in built into the Side a mountain on top of a river/stream, just truly stunning – only took a photo in the dark which honestly doesn’t really do it justice.

We saw a band named Tophouse that I’d never listened to before but they were actually pretty good – kind of a mix between indie rock and Irish folk.

“You never know how many of these days you have left, so you have to try to enjoy every last one”.

One of those moments you never want to lose track of. We were sitting a this bar overlooking lake Brienz (Village of Brienzersee) having a beer before our kayak tour of the lake.

While we were there there was an older gentleman (maybe in his 90s?) who was sitting there by himself having a beer and smoking a cigarette.

Eventually, he stood up with his walker (was missing a leg), and looked at us and said:

“You never know how many of these days you have left, so you have to try to enjoy every last one”.

Just has been living rent free in my head ever since.
